2nd Annual Dialogue and Friendship Dinner


Intercultural Dialogue Institute of Regina organized its 2nd Annual Friendship Dinner with the theme “Family of Families: Sharing The House of Saskatchewan” at Hotel Saskatchewan.

Our distinguished guests include Hon. Andrew Sheer, Speaker of the House of Commons; Hon. Vaughn Solomon Schofield, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan; Hon. Dan D’Autremont, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly; Members of Cabinet , Opposition Leaders, Members of Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, representatives from the RCMP and Regina Police, academicians, faith and community leaders, business leaders, journalists, NGOs and many others.

Following the greeting message of Prime Minister Hon. Stephen Harper, Hon. Vaughn Solomon Schofield, Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan, offered greetings on behalf of the Crown. Hon.Schofield recognized IDI Regina’s efforts for celebrating the cultural diversity in Regina. Following the Lieutenant Governor, Hon. Andrew Scheer congratulated IDI Regina for bringing diverse communities together in Regina. He also mentioned about his last trip to Turkey.

Distinguished speakers of the night also included Hon. Nob Norris, Minister of Advanced Education, Cam Broten, Leader of the Official Opposition. Keynote speech was delivered by Roy  Romanow, former Premier of Saskatchewan.


For this special occasion, IDI Regina established the “Sharing the House of Saskatchewan” Award to recognize a person or institution for outstanding community service. The recipient for the award was Prof. John Whyte from University of Regina for his works for better democratic state and including the place of rights in the democratic political culture, accommodating Indigenous self-determination in the Canadian state, the limits of constitutionally recognized sectarian education, the place of the rule of law in the politics of identity recognition. His award was presented by Kevin Fenwick, Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General.
